You've often heard the phrase, timing is everything! Consider the trapeze artist, he/she has to let go at exactly the right time to catch the bar coming toward him/her. Too early or too late is too bad for you! See ya don't want to be ya!
In the scriptures there is emphasis on timing too. In the Old Testament it was said of the men of Issachar that they knew their times and they knew what to do. 1 Chronicles 12:32. May that be said about us--that we know our times and we know what to do! On the other side of the coin when Jesus stood a top the Mount of Olives and lamented over Jerusalem, Luke 13:32-35, He said essentially, your time is over. He wanted to draw them close and they rejected Him. They missed their window of opportunity. Wow! I hope those words put urgency into your heart to be tuned in to what God wants to do and HIS timing.
I believe THIS is our time to step up. We have a window of obedience and I pray we don't miss it. This is NOT business as usual! Indian Creek this is time to get quiet before God and lay anything and everything down before Him. I mentioned the The Cycle of Faith a couple of weeks ago. Sheila Bethel used her skills to put it together for me in graphics.
When you first get a vision from God it is exciting and energizing. You start out with a lot of energy and faith. You take your first steps and it is wonderful. Until you run into the inevitable hardships that come your way. The naivete wears off quickly when your humanness shows up. Others don't see what you see. They misunderstand your heart. The enemy opposes you and reality enters the picture--big time! As you push forward you come to the realization that you CAN'T do this, at least you can't do it on your own. This ushers in a MOST important time, the time of consecration. Here you lay down self and your own timing and way. At that point the vision seems to die. You know you can't make it happen. Only God can. This is a sober time. You are like Abraham laying down Issac. I don't think Abraham rejoiced on the say up Mt. Moriah. If the dream is to live it will be because of God's divine intervention.
But once you've laid it all down and accepted that you could loose everything something miraculous happens. If it is the vision of God He gives it life. His resurrection power is applied to the vision and it lives again. Only this time it is full of divine power. From there you begin to walk in new steps of faith. This is like Peter walking on the water--you are out there because Jesus invited you to come. And you discover there is provision for what God wants to do and there is provision for you. Here there is a great surge of faith. It feels good to be alive because you feel the power of God working through you to accomplish something bigger than you.
Finally after walking through the cycle of receiving, exercising faith, consecrating, laying it all down, taking new steps of faith, experiencing God's miraculous provision there is the realization of God's vision. At that time you and everyone else is confident that this really came from God--which is the way it should be.
Here on March 3, I think we at Indian Creek are in the place of Consecration. As we lay everything down before God in surrender we will find that God gives the vision supernatural life. We've set March 29 as the time for our Ignite commitments. Once we as a congregation lay down our own will we will experience the presence and power of God intervening in ways that are amazing. Just think of what it will be like for a whole church to be on the upswing of faith and provision. Those days are less than 30 days away. (they will come sooner for those who commit early) I can hardly wait. I know we must go through this somewhat painful time of consecration but it is so worth it. Don't hold anything back. Trust Him completely. Take your biggest steps of faith ever and you will see the best days of your life as a follower of Jesus ahead of you. God bless you as you continue through the cycle of faith to the joyful realization of His vision.
